re: “Single’s Awareness Day”
I think Single’s Awareness Day is a healthy concept if you’re using it as “hey, some people are single, and that’s okay!” kind of thing. However, it’s kind of turned into a mess of “LET’S PITY EVERYONE WHO’S SINGLE” - and that, my friends, is a little fucked up. It’s okay to want a partner. It’s okay to be romantic. But it’s not okay to imply that romantic love is the end-all be-all and that life is meaningless or miserable without a romantic partner.
If you’re single, please do yourself a favor today and step back to appreciate all the other kinds of love in your life, and try and pull your mind away from the aforementioned mindset. It’s toxic, not only to you, but to people who have no interest in romantic relationships and feel alienated because of that.
